At 69–71 Barlow Road, Jupiter, Germiston, about 5 km from the City Deep inland terminal. It’s a 65,000 m² facility, and we’ve acquired another 85,000 m² of land in the Rand Refinery precinct.
Which lines can turn in empties with you?
We’re the nominated empty turn-in container station in Johannesburg for CMA CGM, Evergreen, Ignazio Messina and ZIM. For other lines, we can move your empty to the depot the line nominates.
Is the depot customs-licensed?
Yes. SARS accredited Shipping & General as a licensed customs depot in 2015. As a licensed customs depot operator we can receive and unpack cargo that is still under customs control, examine detained shipments, and store uncleared containers, overstays included, until final release.
Can you bring a customs-stopped container to your depot?
Yes. We hold the customs and excise licences of an approved remover of goods in bond, with a road bond guarantee lodged with customs, so we can move customs-stopped containers to our depot, or one you nominate, for examination.
Which customs examinations do you handle?
Tailboard, tunnel and full unpack inspections, for stops and detentions, anti-smuggling and border police, plant inspections, DA 65, EWP, MIDP, Carnet and port health. Our examination team consolidates examinations to keep the cost down and sends you a status report every day until final release.
Do you repair containers?
Yes. Our M&R facility repairs containers to IICL standards for liner clients.
Can I get a VGM certificate?
Yes. Our SOLAS weighbridge is a 22 m multideck scale. We issue VGM certificates for exporters and weigh axles too.
Can you store reefers and hazardous containers?
Yes. The depot has 20 reefer plug points and a PPECB-certified reefer workshop, washing and PTI facility, and a hazchem section accredited by the Ekurhuleni municipality for storing various hazard classes.
Do you pack and unpack containers?
Yes, from standard loads to complex ones: containers, breakbulk, and abnormal and out-of-gauge shipments. We have 10 forklifts, with drum clamps, fixed and bridge ramps, paper grabs, rhino attachments and fork extensions.
